MARCOM AWARDS ANNOUNCES WINNERS FOR 2011

DALLAS, TX– MarCom Awards today announced winners for the 2011 international awards competition that recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals. There were over 6,000 entries from throughout the United States, Canada and several other countries in the 2011 competition.

MarCom entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers. The competition has grown to perhaps the largest of its kind in the world. A look at the winners shows a range in size from individual communicators to media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies. The competition is so well respected in the industry that national public relations organizations, local ad clubs, and local business communicator chapters are entrants.

MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges and sets standards for excellence.

As part of its mission, AMCP fosters and supports the efforts of creative professionals who contribute their unique talents to public service and charitable organizations. Over the past several years, AMCP has donated over $75,000 in grants to support the efforts of its members. That money was used for marketing materials for homeless shelters, orphanages, day camps, community theaters, art centers, programs for the elderly and for child care and educational endeavors for the underprivileged.
Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

Winners were selected from over 200 categories in seven forms of media and communication efforts- marketing, publications, marketing/promotion, public service/pro bono, creativity and electronic/interactive. About 18% of the entries won the Platinum Award, the organization’s top honor. A complete list of Platinum Winners can be found on the MarCom Awards website at www.marcomawards.com.

MarCom Awards is an AMCP Competition

MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production and free-lance professionals. AMCP administers recognition programs; provides judges; and rewards outstanding achievement and service to the profession.

AMCP was founded in 1995 by a group of creative professionals involved in competitions for several of the national and international trade organizations. The goal of the group was to provide an inexpensive, independent competition on an international level that would be fair, respected and open to everyone.

Over the years, AMCP’s programs evolved into the MarCom Awards, Hermes Creative Awards, Ava Awards and Communitas Awards. Entrants to those programs form the membership of AMCP. AMCP’s Advisory Board administers the programs. Each board member contributes a specific real world expertise that enhances the knowledge of the board as a whole. Board members participate in and oversee judging, and help establish the goals and direction of the organization.

As part of its mission, AMCP fosters and supports the efforts of creative professionals who contribute their unique talents to public service and charitable organizations. AMCP members can enter pro bono work without charge. In addition, the efforts of generous marketing and communication professionals are acknowledged through grants and special recognition.

Over the past few years, AMCP’s Advisory Board has allocated over $70,000 to support the efforts of its members. That money went to create marketing materials for homeless shelters, orphanages, child care, day camps, community theaters, art centers and for educational and social opportunities for the underprivileged, children and the elderly.

AMCP also uses money from its competitions to underwrite many of the expenses of the Communitas Awards, an international program that recognizes individuals and businesses involved in community service and corporate social responsibility. Communitas is a Latin word that means people coming together for the good of a community. Communitas is inspired by the vision of a better world and is an attempt to do something about it through volunteerism, investment and ethical, sustainable business practices.
